Uco Deus Cabernet Franc
*The Uco Deus series is a collection of local vignerons who embody the heart and soul of extreme viticulture.
Don Eusebio is the soul of this vineyard. He knows every leaf, stem, and grape like his own children. Intelligent and fierce, oh, he has stories to share with you of a life well-lived by a vigneron.
Glad you asked. Weā€™re in the region of Paraje Altamira within the famous La Consulta District of the Uco Valley. Paraje Altamira is unique due to its concentration of stony soils with layers of calcium carbonate, its sky-high altitude (1,100m!), and its great shift in temperature from day to night.
Fermentation in concrete eggs, followed by 8 months of aging in Italian amphorae. No fining, nor filtration. Estate bottled, ya!
30-year-old vines of Cabernet Franc awaken the senses with aromas of crushed black fruits, rosy spice, and sweet herbs. Incredibly silky on the palate, gentle tannins sneak-up on you at the end, extending the wine into an impressively long finish. Pretty over bold, European over Californian, this is the perfect little Bistro wine.
Due to its noticeably cooler temperatures, Paraje Altamira is a promising region for SĆ©millon, Chardonnay, and fragrant Cabernet Franc.
Youā€™re craving a soft red, but not Pinot Noir. Youā€™re craving something cozy that feels like your favorite sweater when itā€™s a bit nippy outside. So, grab a wine-loving friend, and share the joy of wine!
