Uco Deus Malbec
*The Uco Deus series is a collection of local vignerons who embody the heart and soul of extreme viticulture.
Hilario is a Malbec whisperer with a good character and kind smile. A constant man of the vine, his hat and hoe accompany him everywhere he goes.
Glad you asked. Weā€™re in the region of Paraje Altamira within the famous La Consulta District of the Uco Valley. Paraje Altamira is unique due to its concentration of stony soils with layers of calcium carbonate, its sky-high altitude (1,100m!), and its great shift in temperature from day to night.
Fermentation in concrete eggs, followed by 8 months of aging in Italian amphorae. No fining, nor filtration. Estate bottled, ya!
This is the Malbec we all need in our lives. Itā€™s a holiday fruitcake of cherry, blackberry, and blue with the wonderfully tingly spices of cardamom and clove. Generous with texture, the wine falls into all the nooks and crannies of the palate with a bold, yet soft finish. We wish all Malbec could taste this plump, purple, and delicious!
Malbec was brought to Mendoza via Chile by French viticultural pioneer, Michel AimĆ© Pouget in the 19th century. The 17th of every April is recognized as World Malbec Day, thanks to Pougetā€™s vision and ambition.
Youā€™re craving a holiday wine without the holiday! This is the kind of wine that brings people together, over a dinner table of roasted meats, fall vegetables, and plentiful sides. So, grab a wine-loving friend and share the joy of wine!
