Uco Deus Chardonnay
*The Uco Deus series is a collection of local vignerons who embody the heart and soul of extreme viticulture.
Violeta is the gatekeeper of this Chardonnay, a strong woman whose presence is evident in each, and every, grape.
Glad you asked. Weā€™re in the region of Paraje Altamira within the famous La Consulta District of the Uco Valley. Paraje Altamira is unique due to its concentration of stony soils with layers of calcium carbonate, its sky-high altitude (1,100m!), and its great shift in temperature from day to night.
Fermentation in concrete eggs followed by six months of aging in French oak. No fining, nor filtration. Estate bottled, ya!
An expressive style of Chardonnay, driven by its concentration of fruit and earth, over alcohol and oak. On the palate, poached quince, pear, and apple unfold into gentle baking spices, almond, and white stones. More luscious than lean, a refreshing sweet-salty acidity brings balance throughout a long and silky finish.
Once considered a predominantly red wine region, Mendoza whites offer incredible value considering their price to quality ratio. Besides Chardonnay, elegant styles of TorrontƩs and SƩmillon are also emerging.
Youā€™re craving something kind-of sweet, but not! Youā€™re over those way too creamy and oaky styles of Chardonnay, but still want the decadence of fruit. Bonus? This Chard loves anything garlicky, lemony, crispy, and golden!
